I agree with story-wise and lore, eiyuden didny hold up to suikoden 2 however, what it did better is the hq system and the characters have more and better use than any suikoden. Like for example they have characters good for mining, hunting and logging woods, which are the guild deputies. Then they have separate characters who run the mining, hunting, farming at home base. These characters arent wasted either because you can also bring them as support and can give a boon. The combatants have wide varieties too, though some are the same as others but regardless, it is more diversified than suikoden. They really just fell short on story and lore.

​@@King-2077. The combatants are boring, most of the characters are bland gameplay and story wise. Also, most of what you say, was done by Suikoden before, but by later entries. The support thing was done since Suikoden 3 and improved in Suikoden 5, Eiyuden just copied and pasted it.

@@SeventhheavenDK nah eiyuden utilized and diversified the characters more than suikoden. Eiyuden did a better job at that, suikoden is better in main story and character-story and lore. Suikoden didnt have expedition missions you assign to characters. And certain character are good at collectinf resources. Also the support slot in the party was done by later suikoden but only as an entourage, no benefits whatsoever. In eiyuden different support casts, grant different boons. Also it’s hilarious when someone say “eiyuden copied suikoden” well no shit sherlock, it was made by the father of the series, and supposed to be a spiritual succesor, it is suikoden in a different form of name lmao. The game has its flaws amd shortcomings, but you cant deny the good things they did better.

That or the Eiyuden guys might be forcing them not to release

Nurayama already said he left suikoden on good terms, no animosity and much respect so they are probably letting eiyuden it's spotlight. Besides I don't like the new sound effects and ui, Konami needs to cook and polish that.

It has been a really long time. I want to replay them and waiting for the remasters without knowing a date feels pretty bad not gonna lie.

Usually people go to Cold Steel, but I actually had a lot of trouble getting into it honestly. I played the first two, and I just wasn't feeling some of the characters enough to really want to keep going at least for now. Daybreak is another good jumping on point. Or since you already played through Trails in the Sky, you could play Zero and Azure . Really up to you and what you're feeling. I would recommend playing something else first so you don't experience Trails overload.

Thanks for the compliment! You should definitely try out Felghana, I would say it's one of the best in the Ys series. Probably my favorite that I've completely played through, though I still have a few I haven't completely played yet.

The voice over is not bad for the time. I would agree with that. In 1994 it was rare to have it at all. I feel like if I had nostalgia for the game I'd find it a lot more endearing.

I played it on PS1, I think they modeled the later DS remakes on that style, so if you want to play those you better get used to it! :P 3DS emulation can be a bit rough, and apparently 2ds/3ds prices are going crazy. I got my 2ds for 100 dollars some years back. No idea what that's about.

I finished DQ 4, 5 and 6 on mobile. I loved 4 and 5. The graphics were definitely from the same base, but still better. At least I'm not alone playing the PS1 version of DQ7 and you enjoyed that version enough to still recommend it. Don't get me wrong, graphics aren't everything to me. I just prefer SNES graphics to that early trying to be 3D stuff.

I played it on 3DS via emulator, and I think the graphical jump to 3D does the game wonders. The original PS1 sprites are kind of lower quality, even from the time they were released. I also think it meshes really well with Akira Toriyama's artstyle since the 3D models have really great facial expressions. It's really reminiscent of Megaman Legends. Gameplaywise, it eliminates a ton of the filler at the beginning, and just outright eliminates random encounters.

​@@GameClouds so i did something crazy and got myself a 3DS. I also bought a copy of DQ7 for the 3DS. I actually am really glad I did. I played through the beginning of DQ7 on the PS1 and then switched over to restart with the 3DS version. It's SO much better! Better graphics, music, QOL features, less tedious, easier to navigate, a lot of the bloat was cut down and its preserved (enhanced, actually) what I like about the game so far! I'm really enjoying it so far and now I've gotten through a few of the islands. Just wanted to give an update.

I think generally people say Soul Silver is one of the best so it's a good place to start. I started with Red way back when I was a kid. It makes sense to start with Silver though if you're probably only gonna play one.

I recommend checking out either Black/White or Black2/White2 The sequels have a good variety of pokemon early & its really fun to team build early on as your not as restricted as other generations Plus graphically & music wise its a really solid gen stylistically (you also get the bike way sooner in the sequel games which i always found funny) Also Pokerogue is a solid browser fangame basically a pokemon roguelike centered around combat but everything you catch can be selected as starters with varying costs with top IVs kept aswell as whatever ability,nature,& gender you catch (If your looking for another one a personal favorite is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon:Explorers of Sky as its got aton of extra content that time/darkness do not) & that's it me thinks so hope ya have fun if you try those out (also worthwhile to check settings so text or gamespeed on those are set like you want since PMD especially can feel sluggish till you turn it to Fast in options)

HeartGold/SoulSilver are probably one of the better Pokemon games to play starting out into the series. Personally, I would go with FireRed/LeafGreen because it’s a remake of the original games, but updated graphics to look better on the GBA than it did on the GBC. and because it’s a revamped version of the originals, it’ll have less of the newer gimmicks that get introduced into the newer games, however most of the gimmicks are usually mini-games or a new type of side mission that won’t take much away from the main stories, so if you do decide to go with HG/SS, it would still be a great introduction to the series. In my experience, my very first game was Platinum. I played it on the NDS when I was about 8 and loved every moment of it.

Only the Super Famicom game does. The PC Engine ones don't.

Fan of Blue Dragon huh? While they're at it might as well do Lost Odyssey too. I've wanted to play through Blue Dragon, but I never have got around to it. I'm with you on Skies of Arcadia for sure. There were even rumors of it, but nothing so far. We can only dream.

OMG blue dragon was such a good show and I always wanted to play the game but never had an xbox! emulation is still a thing but a remake would be great so more people can know about the franchise!

I hope it does come to the US, I've been looking for an excuse to play it anyway.
